A walk about in the wilderness for families with children Note: Date to be announced by 3/1/08. Interested parties please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it This 5 day program is guided over 8 1/2 miles through the wild and incredible beauty of the Mojave desert at spring time. The trip is designed to rekindle our spirits, to renew our connection with the earth, our loved ones and our place in life. As we leave our busy lives behind and step out into the vast beauty of the open land we will touch and gradually open to the shapes of our own inner landscape. The trip includes one overnight stay at the campground at trail head and one overnight stay at the campground at trail end as well as 2 overnight camp outs en route. The hiking distances per day are 2-3 miles over desert terrain with an overall altitude loss of ... on a gentle down hill hike through desert brush, cacti and (in bloom if we are lucky!) and beautiful rock formations. The hiking distances are only between 2 and 3 miles per day and are designed to accommodate smaller kids on the trail. While on the trail we will set up camp in the afternoon and have time to spend as a community. The practice of Council as a way to speak and listen from the heart will be offered. There will also be some guided natural craft making for kids and learning how to read animals tracks as well as some surprise activities. There will be time for community dinner and hopefully, once we get the children to bed, time for the grown ups to sit together under the stars. In these 5 days we get to see how we walk through life, as individuals, as partners, wives and husbands, as parents and as fellow humans. In this rich field we will discover how all these roles in our lives inform who we are called to be at this time of our lives. Pretrip meeting: We are meeting a month before the trip to get to know each other, address any concerns and distribute practical information on the trip. An equipment list will be available and directions to the Trailhead will be handed out. Tuition:$700-$1,100 sliding scale per family Deposit:$200 |
